The Peaks and Plains Swimming League is run jointly by Affiliated swimming clubs from Cheshire West and Cheshire East. The League is affiliated with Swim England North West Region and runs an annual team swimming competition. These team galas which typically take under 2 hours to run are aimed at very inexperienced swimmers and provide a gentle and generally noisy introduction to swimming.

The changes to the league format in 2016 were very successful. The swimmers enjoyed the meet, the racing was very close and exciting and the coaches involved were happy with the changes. The league had run with 8 clubs and the final gala of the season was run with all eight clubs competing at Crewe (the first competitive event to be held in the venue) in the new 8 lane pool. The decision was taken to retain this format with the Northern and Southern Divisions holding two galas each and coming together in a Final gala at Crewe with all 8 teams.
